My Babies

so over my life i have accumulated quite a few guitars

here are their pics and “stats” for your reference (dates will be updated when remembered -_-”)

*future plans: im considering getting 2 more guitars to finish my collection and they are the L’arrivee LV-05E and yet another kit the Saga LC-10

Jasmine:

Age:16-17 *refer to bio*
Born(approx): Summer 1999

Brand: Jasmine by Takamine S-45
Type: Acoustic

Bio: First official guitar that I received, has been with me through thick and thin. From the first broken string to the different praise nites, gigs and campfires…she has yet to let me down and has always sounded the best to me after all the years I have been playing guitar.  I received Jasmine from the daughter of a family friend. She was given the guitar when she turned 16 yet never really got into playing it. When I asked my friend (in her early 20s) if I could borrow her she said that I could take it indefinitely and the rest is history

Hikari: (Star)

Age:7-30+ *refer to bio*
Born: Fall 2003

Brand: Cimar Star (offshoot of Ibanez)
Type: Electric

Bio: First electric guitar, funny story about how God provides where i just transferred to Midwood my Sophomore year and my Cuz gets me to join up SING. Desperately needed a guitar, one of my father’s co-workers had a few guitars just lying around from his former band days when he was in his 20s. I wasn’t able to rock out with her during the competition, but she was definitely a great guitar to practice with and begin my curiosity of blues and jazz. Hikari’s name maybe be a little unoriginal because of her looks but I believe that she still shines brightly now and though her condition wasn’t as good when i received her, the pickups are solid and she sounds amazing for her age ;]

Yuki: (Snow)

Age:7-8 *refer to bio*
Born: Fall 2004

Brand: Squire Strat
Type: Electric

Bio: Another Sing Story! It was that time of year again and I was really anxious about really purchasing a guitar, but alas as a broke high school kid I did not have much excess cash to really spend a lot on a quality guitar. Lo and behold a good brother of mine from church was selling his Strat starter pack that he bought but never really got into playing, I inquired about the color and when he said white on white…I fell in love. And to this day, is still the most expensive guitar that I have paid for: $150. I could not wait to practice and play with her on SING nite but alas it was disastrous; broke a string during first song on the first of two nights. Still through the years of learning maintenance and adjusting pickups, she is my go-to guitar on performance nights.

Kitsune: (Fox; but I prefer Foxy ;])

Age:5-7 *refer to bio*

Born: Summer 2006

Brand: Takamine EG-540C
Type: Acoustic Electric

Bio: God’s provision know no bounds. This was a time when I was part of the OCM’s English Afternoon Service Worship team. An amazing brother was leading worship at the time and requested that we try DC*b’s Make a Joyful Noise/I Will not be Silent. I was asked to attempt the crazy progression that DC*b did and thus there was a semi-urgent need for an electric acoustic for my ever growing collection. About a week or two later I find out that another brother was selling his old electric acoustic and I was able to procure Kitsune for only $100. She has been through a lot since especially with a very notable dent on her body *tear tear* but I still love how bright her sound is with or without an amp.

Midori: (Green)

Age:4 months old :)
Born: August 2010

Brand: Saga TC-10 Telecaster
Type: Electric

Bio: My newest addition to my “harem” of guitars. I built her with my own too hands and I painted her myself. She was my summer project while up at Camp Herald and I personally enjoyed cutting the head stock, sanding her down and spray painted the multiple coats of green! My original plan was to get a vintage tinted wood feel but I ended up going with a green that is like *POW!* She had her debut performance at John Jay’s Got Talent along with the other brothers and sisters that were part of Conquerors through Christ (CTC) in early October 2010. Still tinkering around with her set up to get the sound just right but she’s bu-ti-ful!!! and to think that building a guitar kit is way cheaper than purchasing one from the store. Total spent on her so far: $154; 150 for the kit, 4 for the strings. (might change the tuning knobs and get her a full body workup)
